Thermal degradation behaviors and combustible properties of sepiolite/low density polyethylene nanocomposites
With a view to the excellent properties, polyolefin, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, is widely used as engineering material, electronic and electric matrix material, finishing material, and so on. However, their flammability largely confines their applications. Compared to the lamellar layered silicates, Sepiolite, a kind of layered fibrous silicate, is now becoming an attractive natural mineral used in polymer nanocomposites. In our previous work, we have successfully introduced an intumescent flame retardant (PSPHD) on acidified sepiolite (a-SEP) to prepared modified sepiolite (PSPHD-SEP) .
