Microencapsulation of intumescent flame retardant and its application in some polymer
In recent years, intumescent flame retardant (IFR) has aroused great attentions due to its halogen-free, low release amount of toxic gas and smoke in the fire. However, IFR systems are so easily attacked by moisture that the IFR migrates to the surface and leads to a decrease in the properties of the polymer composites, which include flame retardancy and some other properties. To deal with the problems of the moisture absorption and poor compatibility with polymers, microencapsulation of IFR with waterinsoluble polymers is a good choice.
