The flame retardancy and non-dripping behavior of novel flame-retardant-free self-crosslinkable copolyester
In the traditional view, flame-retardant elements are necessary to endow polymers with flame retardancy, and flame retardants have to be incorporated chemically/physically to polymers.1 But the toxicity of flame retardants has attracted more and more attentions.12 In our previous work, we developed the novel flame .. retardant method: the flame retardation of polymers can be endowed by smart self-crosslinking of the polymers in an appropriate temperature range, not by incorporating chemically/physically flame retardants into polymers. In this paper, a smart cross-linkable PET based copolyester without any flame-retardant element (say, bromine, chlorine, phosphorus, or nitrogen, et at) was designed, and its flame retardancy and antidripping behavior were studied in detail.
