The Perspectives of Pesticide Registration and Management in China
The Chinese pesticide industry has been developing quickly. The registered products of pesticides, productive capacity, and productive yields have not only satisfied the demand of agricultural production in China, but also are exported to hundreds of nations and regions. In the past 30 years, China has developed a sound pesticide management system, especially the pesticide registration system. China has taken serious actions to promote pesticide management, not only on registration, but also on law enforcement, illegal trade commerce, application, treatment of pesticide disposals, etc. to ensure the sustainable development of agriculture, and reduce adverse effects on human health and environment, as well as to improve food safety. However, Chinese pesticide management is also facing many new challenges such as higher concern from the public, safer foods, better environment, stronger market supervision, globalization of management, etc. In addition, public concerns are increasing especially on contaminations of pesticides to the environment and agricultural foods. China pesticide management should be upgraded to solve new problems.
