Importance of Pesticide Regulatory Data and CBI Protection to Innovation in the Plant Protection Industry

Regulatory data are tests and studies generated by companies to prove the safety, efficacy and composition of a crop protection product. The generation of data required by national authorities for the market approval/registration or reregistration of a crop protection product requires a significant investment of time and resources. Confidential Business Information (CBI) is part of the data submitted for regulatory approval. CBI should never be disclosed by anyone who receives reviews or maintains this information. Enforceable CBI protection and the protection of regulatory data is a valuable instrument to encourage innovation.
