Stereoselective Environmental Behaviors of Benalaxyl Enantiomers
Benalaxyl is an extensively used acylalanine fungicide which has two enantiomers with the (-)-Renantiomer having more fungicidal activity than the ( + )-S-enantiomer. Comprehensive environmental behaviors of the individual enantiomers were investigated in soil, plants and animals in this work. In order to study the enantioselectivity, the chiral trace analysis methods for the enantiomers in many matrixes were developed using a variety of pretreatment methods and chiral HPLC separation and detection. The degradations in soils suggested the enantioselectivity depended on the type of the soil especially in terms of pH value and microorganism.
