Control of Fall Armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda with Two Types of Application of Insecticide and Three Spray Volumes in Maize
Introduction The fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda J. E. Smith, 1797) (Lepid6ptera: Noctuidae) is a main pest of maize crop in Brazil, causing severe damage. The control of S. frugiperda in maize crop is still dependent on the use of insecticides. The current technique of application of these products need to be improved in order to better placement of the target product, with adjustment of the volume avoiding waste and human and environmental contamination. The hypothesis of direct spray to the maize plants showed better results in the control of caterpillars comparing with standard application, which is one of the results observed in this research.
