Design, Synthesis and Bioactivity of Modified Nucleosides as Potential Chitin Synthase Inhibitors

Chitin, a linear polysaccharide built up of β, 4linked N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) residues, is the main structural component of the fungal cell wall. As it is absent in invertebrates and plants, chitin could be an ideal target for novel antifungal agents and agricultural fungicides with good selectivity and safety
