Insect neuropeptides play a very important role in an insect s life. The cockroach allatostatins (ASTs) are a family of neuropeptides originally isolated from the cockroach, Diploptera punctata^. Owing to their capacity of inhibiting the production of juvenile hormone by the corpora allata (CA) , ASTs are considered as a potential candidate of Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs).
