Synthesis of Photoreactive Derivatives of Ivermectin
Glutamate-gated chloride channels (GluCls) are transmembrane proteins that mediate fast inhibitory neurotransmission in invertebrate nerves and muscles. GluCls belong to the Cys-loop channel family, which includes y-aminobutyric acid- and acetylcholine-gated ion channels. GluCls are activated by glutamate to enhance chloride permeability of cell membranes, resulting in suppression of cell excitation. As GluCls are found only in invertebrates, they are considered important targets for developing selective insecticide/ parasiticides.
