Carboxylesterase-mediated Insecticide Resistance in Culex pipiens Complex

Carboxylesterases provide key mechanisms of resistance to insecticides, particularly organophosphates ( OPs), in insects. Metabolic resistance can occur in nonspecific carboxylesterases, which exhibit high activity towards substrates such as α- or β napthyl-acetate. In the case of the nonspecific esterases, there are two mechanisms of resistance.
