The Numerical Simulation of Sand Trajectory in Fan Air Flow Channel of Turbo-fan Engine

Sand particles inhaled into turbo-engines may cause bad effect. This paper presents a method to simulate the particle trajectory so that the percentage of particles flying into the core engine can be estimated. The trajectory is calculated by considering aerodynamic force which is based on NUMECA steady computation results and rebounds from the metal surface. Database technology is used in this simulatioa After the treatment of the data obtained by NUMECA, an interpolation method which considers the distance between the particle and a node as average weight, one trajectory simulation takes only less than 1 minute in data of millions nodes. The software is implemented by Visual C+ + 6. 0, an object-oriented program language, which makes program easy to maintain. Based on current rebound model, results show the software works. And the centrifugal force plays an important role in fan passages.
