Effect of Rib Turbulators Angle-of-Attack on Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop in a U-duct Cooling Channel
Ribs angle-of-attack cooling effectiveness has been investigated in a U-duct cooling channel. For this purpose, firstly a single channel was considered and the best angle of attack from both view point of pressure loss and heat transfer coefficient was selected. The selected angle was then applied to both inlet and outlet channels of a U-duct. U-duct geometry is based on an existing cooling channel inside a heavy duty gas turbine. Among all possible orientations four cases were selected and the best orientation from view point of pressure loss and heat transfer coefficient was obtained.
