Design and Experimental Investigation of Instability Turbo-pump Tester with Positioning Sleeve Structure

As a result of the usage of positioning sleeve structure, a rocket engine turbo-pump suffers an instability problem, which is recognized as subsynchronous vibratioa In this paper, a test rig which simulated the typical turbo-pump rotor system is designed and set up. The critical speeds and threshold peed of instability of the test rig are calculated, and the instability phenomenon is reproduced. Theoretical analysis and experimental results all show that the positioning sleeve structure is a key to the stability of the rocket engine turbo-pump.
