Research on Closed Loop Acceleration and Deceleration Control Philosophy of Turboshaft Engine

The acceleration and deceleration time of gas turbine engines is a sign of their transient performance, so it is of great importance to shorten the time for acceleration and deceleration. Meanwhile, the inlet temperature of gas turbine NGVs and rotating speed vary a lot during transient state. Thus, transient state would have significant effect on engine cyclic life. Closed loop acceleration-deceleration control philosophy, which aims at controlling the transient state accurately, controls the acceleration or deceleration rate of gas generator rotor combined with limit to the inlet temperature of gas turbine NGVs. In this paper, Virtual Power Extraction Methodology (VPEM) model based on turboshaft engine is developed. Also examples of some turboshaft engine acceleration and deceleration control philosophy design and transient performance simulation are given to show the applicability, accuracy and convenience of the methodology presented in this paper.
