Interaction of Repetitive Laser Pulse with Mach 8 Bow Shock
A computational study was performed to analyze the flow field of repetitive laser pulse before a Mach 8 bow shock. The interaction process of multiple blast waves and bow shock was analyzed. The influence of energy deposition frequency was studied. The results showed that, when the pulse frequency was lower than 25 kHz, the effects of each blast wave were almost isolated, and the pressure reduction was limited. When the pulse frequency reached 100 kHz, the superposed effects of blast waves were evident. A serial of wave transmission, reflection and amalgamation appeared behind the bow shock, and greatly changed the shape of bow shock. The timeaveraged pressure at the stagnation point was reduced to 72% of the baseline, which was benefit for the wave drag reduction.
