The Research and Verification of Gear Dynamics Transmission
An understanding of gear dynamics is essential to design power transmission systems. The gear system is hard to investigate because gear noise should be small although power density is high.To evaluate the gear dynamics, a measurement of dynamic transmission error(DTE) is one of the good approaches to know gear noise performance and dynamic tooth loading. With dynamics simulation of multi body dynamics, the gear system could be easily modeled and simulated. As a result DTE could be easily measured with small calculation of post processing. In this study a real gear contact modeling technique is used. Each gear is modeled by real geometry and a contact is defined between two gears.A compliance contact model is used to describe the contact and backlash is appeared by a gap of real geometry.Furthermore discontinuous expression, which makes backlash effect, is also applied. The result is compared with experimental result which is measured by Kahraman and Bankership(1996).
