Production, Processing and Utilization of Broomcorn Millet in Gansu
1 Distribution of Broomcorn Millet in Gansu ProvinceIn Gansu Province, broomcorn millet is mainly distributed in rainfed agricultural areas of the eastern and central Gansu where is drought without irrigation. Broomcorn millet area accounts for more than 95 percent of cultivation area in the province. There are some small areas of broomcorn millet planting in Hexi Corridor and Longnan region. The main producing areas included five cities: Qingyang, Pingliang, Baiyin, Dingxi and Tianshui. Broomcorn millet mainly concentrated in the town of Zhenyuan, Qingcheng, Zhengning and Xifeng in Qingyang city, Kongtong, Jingchuan, Lingtai and Jingning in Pingliang city, Jingyuan, Pingchuan and Huining in Baiyin city, Anding, Longxi and Tongwei in Dingxi city, Qingshui, Qinan and Gangu in Tianshui city. According to natural ecological conditions and adaptive differences between broomcorn millet varieties, its ecological zoning in Gansu province is as follows.
