Temperature Stress in Anther Culture of Proso Millet (Panicum miliaceum L.)
Influence of cold (+4℃) and heat (+32℃) stress treatments on the efficiency of embryogenic callusogenesis and regeneration in anther culture of proso millet was studied. Cold stress was applied to isolated panicles. Heat stress was applied to isolated anthers in vitro. A positive effect of heat (32℃) treatment for one day on isolated anthers was established. The most number of regenerants were derived from somatic cells of anthers. Some families of regenerants (13.5%) might pretend to be originated from microspores.
