Antioxidant Activity of Phenolic and Flavonoid Components in Extracts of Broomcorn Millet(Panicum miliaceum L.)
It was found that total content of phenolic (148.9 mg/g) and flavonoid (332.2 mg/g) were the highest in Chinese broomcorn millet(CBM). Korean broomcorn millet showed the lowest flavonoid (95.5 mg/g) while a mutant line of CBM was the lowest in phenolic content (98 mg/g). Free radical scavenging ability of three cultivars was generally 81% to 84% less than ascorbic acid(98%).
