Sequence Optimization of Hull Structure Erection and Welding based on Prediction of Welding Deformation
Assembly and welding is a key process in production of hull structure, and its optimization is significant for constructing ships, thus reducing the time and related costs of construction. In this paper, Welding Structure Deformation Analysis (Weld-sta) which is developed by Structure Mechanics Research Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Joining and Welding Research Institute of Osaka University is used to predict welding deformation for a hull block. Optimum welding sequence is discussed through a series of calculation under different welding conditions. A theoretical guideline for optimizing assembly welding technology can be revealed. The study shows this method is very useful in welding deformation prediction of practical engineering structures.
