Simulation the spectrum of TIG arc radiation

In order to make clear the mechanics of TIG welding arc radiation, a simulation work is implemented to get the spectrum distribution with the consideration of line spectra and continuous spectra. Three-dimensional simulation of the temperature distribution of the arc in steady state is performed using the ANSYS software. Then, the particle density of Ar plasma in specific temperature and pressure is acquired with the application of saha equation, while the particle density and electric neutrality is supposed to be stabilization. The recombination rate of Ar atom and ion is computed based on the relationship between the recombination coefficient and ionization coefficient. The temperature, particle density and recombination rate of Ar plasma are considered to be critical for simulating the radiation of arc plasma. The simulation results are then compared with the experiment results. It is proved that the line spectra fit well with the experiment result. However, for the blackbody radiation which is considered to be caused by the temperature distribution of the arc plasma, there are some differences between the simulation and experiment result. The simulation work provides theory base for diagnosis of arc welding process with spectral information, which is benefit for improving the precision of the diagnosis.
