Simulation and analysis of vibration fatigue stress of butt welded joint based on ABAQUS

Welded structure is utilized widely in industrial field. But due to fatigue damage of welded joint, disastrous consequences are often lead. Fatigue failure of welded joint is lead usually by stress concentration of welded toe, but under resonance vibration condition stress concentration and dynamics problems of welded joint all need to be considered. This paper considers the vibration fatigue problem, the FEA code ABAQUS is used to build model and analyze fatigue stress of welded joint. At the same time peak stress concentration coefficients is determined. The vibration analysis module of ABAQUS is applied for modal analysis of welded joint. The top 30 order natural frequencies and modes of vibration of welded joint are extracted and frequency response analysis was carried on, at last the stress distribution of butt welded joint were gained. By comparison, vibration fatigue stress is greater than static fatigue stress of welded joint, and peak stress concentration coefficients increased from 1.41 to 6.85. This date provide a reliable reference data for fatigue analysis.
