Coal Resistivity Anisotropy and Frequency Response Characteristics
In order to study coal seam resistivity anisotropy and its frequency response, five kinds of coal samples with different metamorphic degree were collected; resistivity of cubic coal samples were tested respectively with different directions, its frequencies 1kHz, 10kHz and 100kHz, using 4263B type LCR parameters tester, then the coal resistivity anisotropy and its frequency response characteristics were discussed based on the dielectric solid band theory and dielectric polarization theory in ac-crent workings. The results show that resistivity values of the same cubic coal sample is approximately same in the trend and the inclination, and the values are obviously different in vertical direction and horizontal direction; each resistivity value decreases in the way of power function with the frequency increasing in the trend and inclination, and the value in vertical is larger than that in horizontal when the frequency is 1kHz, while it is opposite when the frequency is 10kHz and 100kHz.It was obtained that the coal seam resistivities between trend and inclination performs isotropy and performs anisotropy between horizontal and vertical directions.Resistivities in horizontal and vertical directions have different frequency response laws and it is related to dielectric polarization. When electrical method logging is applied, coal anisotropy and frequency response characteristics should be considered.
