IMPACT: Transforming Large Lectures to Student-centered Learning Experiences
Overcoming the learning challenges posed by the traditional large lecture classroom environment has been difficult because of the demands for university efficiency to address large numbers of students with limited numbers of faculty. This presentation will examine the IMPACT program and how it inverts and transforms traditionally passive teaching environments into high level student centered learning experiences through the use of technology. In particular, one specific large lecture introductory course will be examined in-depth to determine how the transformation occurred and the impact of that transformation on students and faculty.
