Analyzing Finite Capacity Cyclic Service Systems with Priority Queues
Priority queueing systems with infinite capacity have received a lot of attention as their closed form solutions are easy to obtain compared to systems with finite capacity. Real systems always have a finite capacity and hence require a different treatment. We present a state-space method for analyzing a finite–capacity priority queueing system with one priority queue. Results show that through an appropriate definition of the state vector, it is possible to achieve multiple priority levels using only one priority queue.
