Performance Comparison of Routing Protocols for Mobile Wireless Sensors Networks

This paper compares cluster-based position and non position-based routing protocols for mobile wireless sensor networks and outlines routing protocol design considerations in mobile environments. It is observed that position-based routing protocols incur less packet loss and enhance packet delivery ratio as compared to non positionbased protocols. On the other hand, for getting location information, position-based protocols use some localization mechanism or GPS, which is costly in terms of energy consumption. Through the analysis and extensive simulation in different scenarios the results reveal that non positionbased protocols exhibit superior performance in terms of both energy consumption and network lifetime.
