An Empirical Study of the Efficiency of Chinas Trust Companies
This paper analyzes the operational efficiency of Chinas 41 trust companies from 2007 to 2010 with the method of data envelopment analysis (DEA). Empirical results have shown that the technical efficiency of Chinas trust industries is generally low, which is mainly due to the low scale efficiency and the pure technologies efficiency. Meanwhile, it analyzes the total factor productivity in Chinas trust industry from 2007 to 2010 with Malmquist productivity index. The total factor productivity of the trust industry has a more significant improvement, which mainly results from the technological change, and less from the technical efficiency changes. For the future, this industry must accelerate the optimal allocation of industry resources, enhance the management level and the ability to resist risk, reduce expenses, and improve the level of operating performance in the whole industry.
