Bank efficiency is an important standard to evaluate the outcome of commercial banking. Since the 20th century, Many banks shift the focus to the external expansion strategy in order to capture the strategic resources and the twenty-first Century Financial dominance. Through mergers and acquisitions, banks obtain the competitive advantage. With the growing scale of international merger and reorganization, banking has gradually become the hot industry in global M & A market. In recent years, Chinese commercial banks are actively exploring the road of internationalization. This paper carries through the cutting-edge technology of the efficiency analysis—DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) to analyze four cases of Chinese Commercial Bank cross-border M&A.The study shows that: the M&A has no apparent promotion of the cost efficiency of Chinese commercial banks. Instead, the efficiency will reduce, albeit insignificant.
