Analysis and Simulation of Winding Tension Control System in Shaftless Web Press

In order to characterize tension and establish control strategy of web press, a precise dynamical model of winding tension is established by analyzing a shaftless multiple unit web press experiment platform. Several simulation models are developed based on MATLAB which are winding tension module, diameter real-time calculation module, taper tension reference value module and servo motor module. A cascade double closed-loop of PID controller is used in the system. A complete winding tension simulation model of web press driven by servo motor is developed. Simulated results are presented through tuning parameters of the main control loop and vice control loop. Multi perturbation factors of winding tension involved in the simulation system makes the simulation model more close to the real web press system and builds a more precise and convenient simulation platform for bringing the advance control strategy to winding tension system of web press.
