Power Control for Network Equipment via Adaptive Forecast-based Port Rate Regulation
Network equipment commonly runs at the highest configuration rate, while network traffic may significantly fluctuate. This causes a rather lowutilization rate of network equipment. In this paper, we firstly analyze network traffic demand, and secondly, we develop an adaptive port rate regulation scheme to enable switches to align its rate to what the network traffic requires. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can reduce the average rate of switches effectively, and the packet loss rate remains at a lower level.
