SHAPE OPTIMIZATION OF BELLOWS-TYPE INFLATABLE TUBE ELEMENTS FOR FLEXIBILITY
This paper focuses on designing the bellows-type inflatable tubes for the flexibility as the objective function based on the wrinkling and collapsing properties.At first, the pure bending environment experiments model for inflatable tube is briefly introduced with four-point bending loads on the LDPE (Low Density Poly-Ethylene) tubes.Then, the effects of bending loads on the wrinkle and collapsing process with cross-sectional deformation, collapse location and area, are numerically examined.Finally, the shape optimization for the inflatable tube is demonstrated to design the inflatable tube elements.
