A MODIFIED SENSITIVITY FILTERING TECHNIQUE FOR THE SUPPRESSION OF CHECKERBOARD PATTERNS AND GRAY ELEMENTS

To suppress checkerboard patterns and gray elements in topology optimization of continuum structures, a modified updating scheme for sensitivities information is proposed by using the updating technique of particle states in particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for reference.This method can be used in conjunction with the solid isotropic microstructures with penalization (SIMP) material description.The optimization objective is the compliance of structure achieves minimal value.Topology optimization model of continuum structure is established basing on SIMP approach.This model is solved by using optimality criteria method.The validity of the proposed method and strategy are substantiated by several typical two-dimensional topology optimization problems.
