Bead Optimization for Reducing Springback of an LCD Bottom Chassis
An LCD bottom chassis (LCD B/C) is a sheet metal for preventing the twisting of an LCD TV.Because the LCD B/C is produced by sheet metal forming process, springback occurs. Therefore, beads are inserted on the LCD B/C for reducing springback. In this study, the lengths and number of beads on the LCD B/C were determined by using optimization technique.Springback as an objective function was defined by the difference between the maximum and the minimum displacements in LCD B/C.These displacements were obtained using PAM-STAMP.Six control points along the edges of the LCD B/C were chosen as design variables. This helps reducing the number of design variables. The design process was performed using PIAnO, one of commercial PIDO tools. The springback of the optimum bead model was found to decrease by 10.1% compared to that of the initial bead model.
