Target Assignment Game Method and Model for Air Defense of Naval Vessels Formation

As primary striking power in military struggle preparative, Naval Vessels formation becomes affirmatively the emphasis of aviation and anti-ship missile of enemy. Aim at the passivity in defense situation, timeliness in defense process, diversity of defense object, mission planning theory and methods for coordinated air defense of naval vessels formation are discussed and studied. Using an engagement model composed of two teams of non-homogeneous fighting units simultaneously targeting each other, the outcomes of various combinations of four targeting strategies used on each side are compared. As opposed two players, naval vessels formation as a defending team player and air-raid force as a attacking team player are analyzed. Mission worth, threat degree and killing probability of each unit in two teams are quantified and integrated based on battle information. Then the gain values of two players are computed based on weighted sums of survival and destroying worth of the other team. The results for all possible combinations of these targeting strategies are compared, which show that for each team the Nash strategy outperforms all other strategies no matter what is the strategy employed by the other side. The experimental results are analyzed and some conclusions are draw.
