A Comparison and Simulation Study of Larger Disturbance Attenuation Controllers for Power System Transient Stability

This paper investigates and applies a novel large disturbance attenuation method to two kinds of nonlinear power system models. The proposed method is devised by linking the backstepping technique and minimax optimal control theory. The power system models are considered as subjecting to the influences of certain transient disturbances, such as mechanical power fluctuation and short circuit fault. Applicability of the scheme is illustrated via simulation; meanwhile, the control performances of the two models are analyzed and compared. The simulation results reveal that the proposed controller is strong robust and insensitive to the internal and external disturbances.
