A Comparative Study on Mass Customization Mode with Multiple CODPs and the One with Single CODP
CODP plays a central role in mass customization supply chain; the different location of CODP decides a different production strategy. However, no matter where enterprises set its CODP location, the number of CODP in traditional mass customization supply chain is mainly single and set in advance. Under the circumstance of single-CODP, contradictions exist between the depth of customization and delivery time is notable. At the same time there are limitations such as: non-discriminatory treatment, low level of customization and so on. So, a new production mode of mass customization with multiple CODPs is constructed. Then, it is compared with the single-CODP production mode concerning the aspects of customization level, delivery time, production planning, inventory, product cost etc, and eventually its characteristics are summarized.
