Effect and Lesson on Traffic Lifeline hazard by Seismic Landslide

Earthquake disaster often leads to some serious damage of lifeline engineering, so the prevention and mitigation of disaster of lifeline systems is one of the important issues in the comprehensive disaster prevention. From the perspective of earthquake disaster and seismic landslide, this article discussed the damages and losses resulted from the traffic lifeline hazard in some serious earthquake. Traffic interruption in the earthquake and seismic landslide affect the mobility of the lifeline system and seriously reduce the service capabilities of the other lifeline systems. The traffic lifeline hazard not only delays emergency evacuation and relief work when earthquake happens, but also hinders the restoration works after the earthquake. The article also pointed out that the reasonable reinforcement of these seismic slopes can greatly reduce losses of emergency rescue and restoration and reconstruction after the earthquake. It proposed the necessity of the theoretical and experimental study of seismic safety evaluation of the slope and its reinforcement.
