Analysis on Characteristics of Mixed Traffic Safety at Intersections Based on Action of Averting Danger
The paper proposed a method which extracted data of action of averting danger based on the video image, when vehicle-bicycle traffic conflicts occurred. Then, taking Beijing typical intersections for example, the characteristics of action of averting danger that drivers and bicyclists adopted were analyzed. The results show that the most effective way of averting danger for drivers and bicyclists is respectively deceleration and deceleration with turning. Finally, the vehicle-bicycle conflict factors were studied and the relationship between traffic flow and traffic conflict is nonlinear. So the method presented to detect vehicle-bicycle traffic conflicts based on averting action is correct and feasible.
