Life Cycle Assessment on the Environment of Automobile Fuelled with Alternative Fuels
With increase in the quantity of motor vehicle, the exhaust emissions have become a main reason for the urban environmental degradation recently. In order to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels and improve the exhaust emissions of automobiles, any alternative fuel resource should be fully utilized. However, we have to estimate the alternative fuels with scientific and objective methods when the alternative fuels will be utilized. In order to study the energy consumption and emission of the gasoline, diesel oil and automobile alternative fuels, the GREET 1.7 software is used to calculate and estimate lifecycle through energy consumption and emission of different fuels. The results show that the energy consumption of diesel oil reaches minimum, the CO2 emission of ethanol, the CO of diesel oil, the NOX of methanol, the PM2.5 and PM10 of LPG and the SOX of DME reaches minimum, the NOX and SOX of ethanol and biodiesel reach respectively maximum during the feedstock phase, the PM10 and VOC reach respectively maximum during the fuel phase, the CO of them reaches maximum during the vehicle operation phase.
