Study on Biofilm Colonization in different types of Packing
To analysis the effect of different types of packing on the biofilm, combined packing, elastic packing and novel bamboo packing were selected as the testing packing in the contact oxidation tank and studied in the static condition. The indexes such as the total bacteria count, water quality changes and various biofilm factors were investigated to illustrate the characteristics of membrane and the effect of biofilm colonization in different membrane system. The results showed that combined packing had the advantage of good microbial adsorption, fast biofilm, high removal efficiency of substrate, low microbial content in water and so on, but it tended to be caking which affected its capacity gradually. Elastic packing had large surface area and a fast efficiency of biofilm colonization in the static condition, but its ability of initial microbial adsorption was the worst among the three packing, under the impact of the air, a large quantity of microbes existed in the water. Bamboo packing is a new type which had large surface area and could protected microbes from obliterated through a special combination. Natural bamboo had a good affinity for microbes and a firm microbial adsorption due to the rough surface, At the same time, bamboo packing released some special substance that could result in temporary water quality deterioration,but under the role of membrane system, this status would be changed.
