The Application of GIS Technology in Traffic Simulation
This paper first puts forward that increasing traffic problems are blocking the development of the society. Then, it analyzes the research status of traffic simulation technology as well as GIS technology and supposes that combination of these two technologies provides a new solution to traffic problems. Subsequently, the necessity and advantages of the combination are introduced. The combination not only follows the tendency of traffic simulation, but also expands the research area of GIS. Furthermore, TransModeler, which has integrated the GIS function, is set as an example to demonstrate the application of GIS technology in traffic simulation system. It can safely reach an agreement that introducing GIS to the traffic simulation ameliorates the result of simulation, increases the speed of input/export road network data, and fundamentally promotes the efficiency of simulation process. Application of GIS technology in traffic simulation system will be wider and wider.
