Application of MATLAB for Identification to the Image of Oil Pollution using Ground Penetrating Radar
Among environmental pollutions, air pollution and noise pollution normally can be detected right away. Such is not the case with underground pollution because whenever discovered the extent of the pollution usually has been quite serious, and the pollution has been so diffused that is beyond examination. Once exploration becomes necessary, more human resources and budget will normally be required for more expansive pollutions. Therefore, it has become necessary to develop simpler, more effective scientific method to probe underground pollution. Ground penetrating radar has become a non-destructive surveying technique with developmental potential; however, as judgment, analysis and explanation of the pictures were formerly conducted by experienced engineers, human errors were unavoidable. This research uses the in-situ pollution for obtaining original pictures, and applies MATLAB digital image processing technique to determine the degree of pollution and the detect boundary of pollution. Insitu pollution is taken as an analytic case to validate the feasibility of image processing technique and reduce the dependence of ground penetration radar upon artificial identification.
