Research concerning the concentration of heavy metal elements in sediment cores of north Beibu Gulf
This paper analyzed the three sediment cores including deposition rate, concentrations and vertical distributions of heavy metal elements. It showed that: (1) The deposition rate of the three sediment cores were 0.406, 0.381 and 0.496cm/a. (2) The average concentrations of Cu, Pb, Zn, Cr in three sediment cores were 17.21, 32.92, 72.32 and 48.99ug/g, respectively. (3) Learning from the vertical distributions of heavy metal elements in sediment cores, we found that: .Cu, Zn have increased dramatically since 1985, 1980, respectively. Pb was gradually increased; however, Cr was progressively decreased. (4) Correlation results between heavy metal elements and organic matters showed the significant correlation, especially between Cu and Zn, also between organic matters and the two in particular.
