Study on the Three Peaks in the Development of Fujian Regional Architecture
There are three peaks, known as Jiageng Style, Wuyi Style and Regional Hightech Building, in the development of Fujian regional architecture since 1950s. Based on the theory of holistic regionalism which encourages contemporary architectural design to integrate with the specialties of regional natural and cultural environment as well as the local intelligence on technic and art, the three peaks were studied in terms of main works, creative characteristics and historical contributions. The target of this study is to discuss how they develop new appropriate architectural solutions in the light of the natural and cultural context so as to create new building surroundings sustainable and culturally responsive to the local milieu,to help preserve the ecological integrity of the site and revitalize the cultural heritage at the same time.
