Summary of Development of Chinese Modern Construction Technology A Case for Modern Architecture in Guangzhou
Taking the modern architecture of Guangzhou as example, and the development and evolution of buildings technology as the main line, the development of Chinese modern construction technology was briefly discussed in this paper. The import of western construction technology is main thrust for the development of Chinese modern architecture, which lead Chinese architecture transformed from tradition to modern. The development process of is a history of importing, imitation, digestion and absorption of the western construction technology, so it can be divided into three stages, embryonic stage, overall implantation stage and localization stage. At embryonic stage, the development is mainly shown by masonry technique, Western-style triangular roof structure and evolution of traditional building materials, such as brick and stone; The representation of overall implantation stage is new materials and technology, such as cement, plate glass, steel and reinforced concrete structures were imported in China successively. According to the application time of advanced technology, it is probably simultaneously for the development of China and Western worlds; During localization stage, the western architecture technology combining with the Chinese traditional building style was explored and practiced in new forms to adapt the local environment, and promote localization of the modern construction technology in China.
