The application of GPR in the thickness measurement of vadose zone

Ground Penetrating Radar commonly is called GPR, also known as ground penetrating radar, ground-penetrating radar. It is a method of using 106-109Hz frequency radio waves to determine underground media distribution. GPR is an advanced detection technology, developed high-tech methods of geophysical in recent years. It is favored by much the engineers and researchers with its high resolution, accurate positioning and rapid economic, flexible, intuitive profile, real-time image display, etc. Since the inception of the method, highfrequency and ultra-high frequency electromagnetic waves have been used for a variety of indirect observations studied on the platform and underground. Although the time is not much long, GPR has been shown to solve a wide range of issues. Now, GPR has been successfully applied in geotechnical engineering investigation, engineering quality control, hydro-geological survey, mineral resources research, environmental testing, and many other fields. It achieved remarkable results, social and economic benefits and continuously improved in engineering practice. GPR will play an important role in the field of detection in the future1,5.This work used the test basia for enhanced observing of all elements of the hydroloical cycle for the actual physical model, which is in Linan city of Zhejinang Province, The observation of the soil thickness of the vadose zone by GPR;provide a theoretical basis for observing of all elements and the operation of the physical test model .
