A Bidirectional Radix Converter Design Between Binary and Decimal Number
In digital signal processing, binary number and decimal number are often used for high speed computation and function of data input and output. Therefore, it is necessary to perform radix conversion between binary and decimal. Nowadays, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) application technology and Hardware Description Languages (HDL), such as Verilog HDL, are rapidly becoming an integral part of the tools used for complicated digital system design. This paper presents an efficient and reconfigurable bidirectional radix converter design between 12-bit binary values and Binary Coded Decimal (BCD) format using the Verilog HDL. Finally, the design had been successfully implemented on FPGA development board (Altera Cyclone(R) Ⅱ 2C70).
