Coordinating Development of City and Industrial Park under Constraints of External Traffic A Case Study in Ordos

Polluting industrial parks usually locate in a far distance away from their city service areas. The far distance reduces the city pollution, while brings inconvenience to industrial workers because the long distance increases a lot of commuting time. However, few studies have been made in balancing the reduction of pollution and the convenience of workers. Our study shows that commuting time depends on the distances and traffic conditions from the city service area to industrial parks Based on the analysis of traffic isochronous rings to determine the distances, and the analysis of traffic demand and network load to determine the traffic conditions, we adjusted the roads network to reduce commuting time and keep the distance from city to industrial parks to reduce pollution, accordingly coordinated the development of city and industrial parks.
