Experimental Study on Engineering Characteristics of Expansive Soil of Luzhong
Based on the analysis in the engineering characteristics of expansive soil of Luzhong and three axis consolidation test, this paper discusses the special engineering property such as swellshrinking of expansive soil, fractured and intensity attenuation. The results show that the expansion of expansive soil of Luzhong is related to soil initial water content,overlying load and liquid limit.The expansion rate decreases with the increase of the initial water content and the overlying load, and increase with the increase of liquid limit.Intensity attenuation,is associated with density and fracture. The density change and fissure development are due to swelling shrinkage. Expansive soil is subjected repeated cycle of dry and wet, and then soil swelling shrinkage deformation occurs. In the expansive soil swelling shrinkage cracks is produced, so that the strength of soil is reduced. In addition, the density of expansive soil significantly changes at the same time during no fissure and unsaturated natural condition to the saturated crack state of full development, and crack development is the key factor to affect strength.
